Before time runs out: why internal auditors need to know about quantum threats

5 minutes

The topic of quantum computer development , the growth of computing power, and the related threats associated primarily with data security in the long term is probably something you have already encountered—that is, if you work in information technology or cybersecurity.

But what do quantum threats mean from an internal audit perspective, and why should internal auditors (at least) be aware of them?

Although it may seem that quantum technologies are not a topic of discussion for internal auditors, the opposite is true.

After all, the entire "Quantum safe" journey begins with an audit and subsequent inventory of the entire organization's environment.

That is why we took a closer look at this issue – from the perspective of someone who is very familiar with both worlds – ITS internal auditor Libor Štourač, who has many years of experience in information technology, risk management, and auditing, in an article prepared for the magazine Internal Auditor published by Czech Institute of Internal Auditors .
