Report: Quantum Day 2025

On December 2, 2025, the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague became the venue for an extraordinary meeting of leading experts in quantum technologies from academia, government, and the private sector. The premises, where Jan Hus once preached, became the venue for Quantum Day 2025, an event organized under the auspices of the Czech Technical University and the Quantum Innovation Center (QIC), in cooperation with other partners, including ITS.
The program was packed, and overall, Quantum Day 2025 not only provided an overview of achievements to date, but also looked ahead to the future.
Quantum Innovation Center as one of the paths
One of the items on the agenda was the presentation of Quantum Innovation Center Czech Republic, a unique project bringing together leading Czech technical universities and the Academy of Sciences in a consortium, which provides access to quantum computing based on IBM technology.
The project aims to educate hundreds of future quantum experts, who are already in high demand today. We are delighted to be able to collaborate on an educational project of this kind. Among other things, QIC Czech Republic is one of 50 innovation centers around the world.
Discussions focused on cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, the European EURO QCI initiative, and projects that are better known in the media, such as IT4I-LumiQ and Ostrava-based VLQ. These activities demonstrate that quantum technologies have a direct impact on strategic areas of the state and the economy. CzechInvest emphasized its support for start-ups that are trying to put quantum technologies into practice.
The topic of Quantum AI SuperComputing – presented by Martin Švík from IBM – showed that quantum computing could fundamentally change the nature of artificial intelligence and open the way to solutions that seem almost impossible today.
Quantum security and practical examples
Much attention was paid to post-quantum cryptography and quantum security, i.e., PQC and QKD technology (Cetin).
The event included panel discussions, which showed that the issue of data protection in the era of quantum computers is relevant not only for the academic sphere, but also for the banking sector and telecommunications.
Post-quantum cryptography was then the subject of a separate presentation by ITS CEO Lumír Srch, who, among other things, highlighted the current state of security through PQC. It was very interesting to see how leading ISP providers, banking institutions, and organizations participating in Quantum Day itself are doing.
A practical application was illustrated, for example, by HSBC, which presented specific scenarios for the deployment of quantum solutions.
ITS as part of raising awareness in the field of "quantum safe"
Quantum Day 2025 clearly showed that quantum technologies are becoming a key pillar of digital transformation. ITS has long been involved in raising awareness of quantum-safe solutions , i.e., technologies that are resistant to threats from quantum computers. Participating in events such as Quantum Day allows us not only to follow the latest trends, but also to actively contribute to spreading awareness about how to prepare for the future of secure digital infrastructure.
The significance of the event was underscored bythe presence of ČT24 television, which broadcast a report directly from the scene. This proves that the topic of quantum technologies resonates not only in the professional community, but also in the public sphere. We are pleased that the topic of quantum is gaining importance and receiving more and more attention.

Quantum Day 2025 was not just a conference—it was a manifesto that the Czech Republic has the ambition to become a leader in quantum technologies. And we at ITS want to be part of it.
