Report: IBM Tech Day 2026
4 min
On March 26, 2026 , IBM, in collaboration withTD Synnex and its partners, hosted another edition of IBM Tech Day, subtitled The Evolution of Technology in Practice , was primarily dedicated to applications and the general deployment of innovations and technologies in the real world. As a long-standing IBM partner and a partner of this event, which took place in the beautiful Empire Hall at Slovanský dům, we at ITS naturally couldn’t miss it.
IBM, NASA, and the Czech Top Gun
Without a doubt, the biggest draw at this year’s gathering was Major Aleš Svoboda, a fighter pilot, an ESA trainee astronaut, and currently the Czech Republic’s great hope for a future mission to space. Let’s be clear: a real mission—according to the plan, Aleš is set to head to the ISS as early as 2027.
In the opening presentation withMartin Švík from IBM, which focused on the long-standing collaboration between NASA and IBM, the discussion covered topics such as processing massive amounts of data—including the benefits of technologies like AI—using engaging and concrete examples ranging from weather models and various heat maps to highly sophisticated predictions of various kinds.
And so that it wasn’t all about technology, Major Svoboda added a human touch and shared his unique experiences. From a little boy’s dreams and the movie Top Gun to the present day, from the little things to the greatest fears and concerns an astronaut faces. It was a truly exceptional and inspiring gathering where he shared experiences that, let’s be honest—not just anyone has.
ITS & Little Moon City Prague
The next session featured ITS with its project Little Moon City Prague and a presentation on collaboration in the field of (not only post-quantum) security. For the fourth year in a row, we have been working with ITS, the technology partner of the LMCP project, featuring the distinctive yellow Hydronaut, which can be found on the CTU campus in Prague-Dejvice. Jiří Schneider and CEO Lumír Srch from ITS presented its journey and future ambitions to lead international analog missions from the Czech Republic in a great tandem. This presentation tied in very nicely with the previous segment, partly because Aleš Svoboda also completed a training mission at LMCP, and it can truly be said that the Czech journey to space began here, as part of the ProMise mission. The President of the Czech Republic also recently visited the training facility.
The event featured many other concrete examples of how technology is being used, which helped attendees understand why innovation can be a driving force for entire industries and, for you, a huge competitive advantage.
