Prague Security Dialogue: a debate on the way to a more secure future for the Czech Republic

3 minutes

On November 13, 2025 , Prague hosted the Prague Security Dialogue 2025, the first annual conference that brought politicians, experts, business and academia together at the historic Fant Hall at the Main Railway Station.

Objectives of the Prague Security Dialogue

The conference with dialogue in its title aimed to open discussions on security, defence and technological innovation in the Czech Republic.

And the atmosphere was charged with expectations - not only because of the current geopolitical challenges, but also because of the question of whether the Czech Republic will increase its defence spending up to 5% of GDP, how it wants to counter new types of threats or the question of the necessary inter-ministerial cooperation.

The discussion was not limited to numbers and budgets. Much attention was paid to the future of the Czech defence industry - its self-sufficiency, its ability to respond to new threats and the possibilities of expansion into foreign markets. It was said that linking state policy with innovation and the business environment could be the key to long-term stability.

This is an approach that is quite common abroad, especially when it comes to new technologies. Drones, critical infrastructure, key players in the private sphere, and the successes and credibility of Czech technology companies that go far beyond the borders of the Czech Republic were discussed.

Cyberspace, new threats & future challenges

A large part of the conference was devoted to equally important topics such as modern technologies and related future security challenges.

Cyberspace, artificial intelligence or the degree of automation, or the very close to us topic of the development of quantum computers and related post-quantum cryptography, are becoming an integral part of the 21st century defence.

The CEO of ITS, Mr. Lumír Srch, also contributed to the panel discussion on this topic, offering a view from the practice of a technology company and highlighting the specific challenges and opportunities associated with the rapid development of digital solutions. His input thus complemented academic and policy perspectives with experience from the business environment.

The Prague Security Dialogue thus fulfilled its role as a strategic forum that not only reflects current threats, but above all seeks ways to counter them. The open debate, the necessary and increasingly resonant interconnection of different sectors and the courage to ask uncomfortable questions - all this makes this event another milestone important for moving Czech and European security policy closer to future needs and threats.

Thank you for allowing ITS to be a part of the conference as a partner - and above all, thank you for your interest and for the many new conversations.

As we have already emphasized at the event, time is moving very fast and in addition to discussions, it is necessary to take action - after all, the remediation process is not only time-consuming and, as has been said several times, the question is no longer if, but when.

If you would like to know in detail what all was discussed during the PSD, check out the recording of the entire conference on YouTube.
