Panorama of Prague's Žižkov is changing

Exactly at the turn of the summer holidays, the Central Telecommunications Building, nicknamed "Mordor" by the people of Prague, also known as the Strougal Tower, finally disappeared from Žižkov.

Ať už jste příznivci tohoto typu architektury či nikoliv, ÚTB se stala ikonickou stavbou spjatou právě s panoramatem Žižkova a Vinohrad a viditelnou zdáli z mnoha míst. Na svou dobu velmi pokročilá technická stavba v brutalistním stylu nakonec ustoupila budoucímu projektu dle návrhu proslulé architektky Evy Jiřičné.

At the end of June, excavators uncovered the last pieces of the telecommunications tower and now demolition work on the adjacent buildings is gradually beginning.
